A clear vision is the heartbeat of an organization—it gives people a sense of purpose, direction, and belonging. Vision alone isn’t enough; it has to be grounded in the everyday actions and behaviors of staff. When leaders take time to accurately assess how people are showing up—how they collaborate, communicate, and respond to challenges—they gain insight into whether the culture is truly living the values it claims.

This alignment between vision and behavior is what creates trust, cohesion, and the conditions for real growth. Without it, vision stays abstract; with it, vision becomes lived experience, shaping a workplace where people feel connected to something meaningful and empowered to contribute.

We’ve provided our 7-step Culture Reset Map to help align mission with people practices that lead to sustainable impact.

1. Reflect on Leadership & Vision

  • Does our leadership consistently communicate the mission and its importance?

  • Are leaders modeling self-care and healthy boundaries?

  • Is the mission inspiring action without causing overload?

2. Clarify Values & Behaviors

  • Are our values clearly defined and embraced?

  • Do our daily behaviors and decisions reflect these values?

  • Are we recognizing and rewarding value-aligned actions?

3. Assess Systems & Processes

  • Do our workflows and policies support staff well-being and mission delivery?

  • Are roles and responsibilities clear to prevent overload?

  • Is there room for staff input and flexibility?

4. Strengthen Communication & Feedback

  • Are we fostering open, honest, and frequent communication?

  • Do we have safe spaces for staff to voice concerns or ideas?

  • How often do we gather and act on feedback?

 5. Recognize Burnout Warning Signs

  • Are we noticing frequent absenteeism or turnover?

  • Is there decreased enthusiasm or energy among staff?

  • Are there rising conflicts or communication breakdowns?

  • Is there increased stress and emotional exhaustion?

6. Develop Action Steps with Your Team

  • Use a “Stop-Start-Continue” approach to identify what to change and maintain.

  • Prioritize actions that reduce burnout and enhance alignment with mission.

  • Assign champions to lead specific initiatives.

7. Monitor Progress & Adjust

  • Set measurable goals for culture and well-being improvements.
