Showing Up Authentically

That’s my theme for the year when it comes to content creation.
Anyone who has met me knows I show up authentically to every interaction. I’m often described as “real” - what you see is what you get.
But I noticed as I launched my company last year, I retracted a bit. I found myself wondering if I would polarize potential clients. With the truth? With something they were maybe not ready to hear?
And all that wondering led to me overediting my work and censoring some of my thoughts.
Polarization is never my goal. Alignment is, and there’s only one way to get there.
So my theme for this year is simple: be more authentic in my content. Which for me means holding up the mirror of truth, accountability, and self-reflection for others in a loving and kind way and with the best of intentions.
As a business owner, that’s uncomfortable - authenticity removes the shield of neutrality. But neutrality rarely moves anything forward. So I am aiming to balance empathy and understanding with helpful, which is sometimes hard to digest.
In leadership and organizational development, I ask people to hold up mirrors to their systems and structures. It feels disingenuous not to do the same in my own work.
